Model Look Tests/ Texturing

Doing some style tests in 3D to see how texturing and modeling might work. This workflow is really good for getting painterly results using Zbrush/Photoshop. Only diffuse (color maps), not even any shaders yet! 100% hand painted. Also included a ref sheet with Monsterbox, Wildstar and Darksiders ref since these are personally my fav direction for the art direction to take.

3D Layout for Base of Tree

I did a basic block-in for the base of tree. This is just 3d layout, didn't do any design whatsoever since you guys will want changes. Feeling a little hardcore, but let me know if the general scale and staging is working in 3D. I modeled each root separately using curves, so it should be easy to make changes.
Got the storyboard panels for comparison and a top down view, hopefully enough info.

some assets

Base Tree Asset Building pt.1

Hey Design Team,

As you know we need to have assets modeled by this Friday so we can get moving on to set dressing and environment design. This is the absolute deadline for this. Below are the designs we'll be modelling based on the thumbnails that I drew. This shouldn't take anyone more than 30 minutes of work.

You are responsible for having these in the PRE-PRODUCTION group folder by Friday. No exceptions.


These thumbnails are examples of what I expected from the group 2 weeks ago. They were extremely important in helping pick the specific assets we needed also to get a sense of the look and feel of the film. I'm happy to be design lead and to make final calls if that's what everyone wants, but I cannot do all the work by myself.

I understand that we are the 3D group but that should not exempt us, the design team especially, from drawing and roughing out ideas.

I'm not calling anyone out in particular but going into the future hopefully we can put in more effort and participation as a team to really make this film something we can be proud of.

Loris Redesign Sketches
